Key Staff Players
We forge relationships and partnerships with our clients, working together to strengthen their programs and their results. It's the individuals on our teams that are responsible for the strength and quality of these client partnerships. And these same team players make possible the great results we're able to achieve for our clients' programs.
These dedicated and talented staff members are the primary reason our clients continue to trust us with their brokerage and management needs. Here are a few of Names in the News' key players.
-
Susan has played a lead role both at Names in the News and in direct mail fundraising for over 20 years. Today she heads both our list management and brokerage divisions, bringing to our company and our clients a wealth of knowledge, fundraising experience and direct mail savvy. An active list broker, Susan consults with some of our largest nonprofit clients including Nutrition Action Healthletter, The Nature Conservancy, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, The Wilderness Society and the Sierra Club.
Susan hails from the Midwest, and is a graduate from the prestigious Carleton College, where the honorable Paul Wellstone was on faculty. In her limited free time, Susan is an avid cyclist, participating in marathon rides for causes she believes in. Early mornings and weekends she can often be found cycling down the challenging roads and bike paths of the East Bay hills.
David Herrick, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer: dherric@nincal.com
On staff since 1981, David built our customized direct mail programs and is responsible for our cutting edge database and reporting. Today David serves as our in-house technical guru and operational wizard, putting his unique talents to work heading our Accounting, Human Resources and Information Services departments.
David works closely with Susan to oversee the primary operations at Names in the News. He insures that our computer and accounting systems meet and exceed our staff and client needs. To do so he regularly consults with our sales division to streamline systems, increase efficiency and enhance communication and reporting structures with our clients and other key contacts.
In his "off" hours" David teaches and practices at a local Dojo, ever-perfecting his martial arts techniques. He is an instructor of Bok Fu Do and regularly participates in matches and exhibitions, both as a judge and a competitor.
Jeanette Cassano, Vice President and Director of New Business: jcassan@nincal.com
Jeanette is known for her commitment to her clients. She's driven in part by a long-standing interest in politics, having worked in political fundraising and direct mail prospecting in Washington D.C. before coming to Names in the News in 1985. Today Jeanette consults with prominent organizations such as the Democratic National Committee, U.S. Fund for UNICEF and the National Wildlife Federation. She has a reputation in the company and in the nonprofit community for experience, strong client partnerships and integrity. Within the office, Jeanette heads our new business efforts, serving as a company liaison and contact for prospective new clients inquiring about our services.
Jeanette's interests outside the office bring her into the world of politics. She is actively involved in both local and national fundraising for political and civil liberties causes. Plus, she's a devout baseball and women's basketball fan. Most recently Jeanette has begun spending weekend hours on the golfing green.
Suzie McGuire, Vice President and Director of Operations: smcguir@nincal.com
A broker with Names in the News since 1984, Suzie has developed a strong network of contacts and friends in the nonprofit and direct marketing communities. She worked to develop Planned Parenthood's membership back in the 1980's at the peak of the Roe v. Wade controversy, and has since advanced the prospecting programs for many women's issues mailers, civil liberties appeals, public broadcasting stations and environmental groups. American Cancer Society, Common Cause, Anti-Defamation League and Special Olympics are just a few of her brokerage clients today. Heading our sales operations and training systems within Names in the News, Suzie leads our training task force and spearheads all educational forums held for our staff.
Outside the office, Suzie is active raising her two boys and volunteering her time and experience to the Oakland school system's art programs and fundraising efforts.
Bonnie Olson, List Management Director: bolson@nincal.com
Bonnie dedicates herself to reviewing performance of our managed files and consulting with our list owners regarding updates, recommended enhancements and marketing strategies for their lists. As the lead list representative for our managed files, she makes sure that our clients' lists are well represented to appropriate mailers for consideration in their campaigns through personalized faxes, phone calls, e-mails and face-to-face meetings with brokers.
Bonnie has been a member of the Names in the News staff since 1989. Since 1991, she has served as List Management Director, supervising the list management team and directing their service to the brokerage community. Before her tenure at Names in the News, she was list services manager for both Harry and David and Jackson & Perkins catalogs. Her experience in both commercial and nonprofit sectors makes her especially skilled in matching our managed lists to their appropriate users.
When not in the office, Bonnie enjoys outdoor pursuits. She's an avid walker and golfer. She also loves to sing. We're constantly amazed that Bonnie seems to know by heart the lyrics to just about any rock, pop or R&B tune released in the past 30 years.
